CITB – ConstructionSkills have now confirmed that from the 1^st October 2011 to 31^st March 2012 they are increasing the daily grant for Site Safety Plus training from £17.50 to £52.50 per person.

The Site Safety Plus grant can be used for the following courses at Assured Safety Solutions:

ConstructionSkills Site Safety Plus (‘The Scheme’) has been designed to provide the building, civil engineering and allied industries with a framework for training and career development.  

A series of courses has been developed to fit into the ConstructionSkills Site Safety Plus framework. This starts with a health and safety awareness day to prepare for the ConstructionSkills Health & Safety Test, and then progresses to an intermediate level for those about to take on supervisory responsibilities. 

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme is designed to assist site managers and potential site managers in developing knowledge, awareness and understanding of their legal, moral and social responsibilities for health, safety and welfare on construction sites. This course is the most widely recognised for the construction industry and is supported by a refresher course. 

We have successfully delivered our first SSSTS course in August 2011 and have our first SMSTS course scheduled from the 9^th to 15^th November 2011. For more information about these courses please click here

Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Ltd (BBCEL) are currently constructing a 28km dual carriage way from Newark to Widmerpool. Once complete, this link will mean the A46 will provide a much safer and quicker route between the A1 and M1. 

The project is currently implementing the groups Zero Harm Plan, part of which involves an annual safety day, ‘Zero Harm Day’. The objective of the day is to gather all of the project team, from operatives to senior management together and focus on health and safety.  

The event was held at Systerton Airfield, Nottinghamshire and BBCEL provided a range of stands for employees and contractors to attend.

These stands ranged from; Health Checks, Driving Safely Awareness to People and Plant Interface. Assured Safety Solutions were commissioned to provide the first aid and emergency training stand.

We provided first aid casualty simulation with three HSE approved first aid trainers to guide and refresh qualified first aiders on elements of their training which they had become unfamiliar with. The casualty simulation was provided by Casualties Union Northampton, (whose makeup of broken bones and cuts was very realistic) along with plant that is used on the project. This enabled the stand to be relevant and specific to the recipients. 

The day was a great success with first aiders gaining valuable refresher training. We also supplied BBCEL with first aid kits and First Aid at Work workbooks that were handed out to all attendees. 

We would like to thank everyone involved and who attended to make the day the success it deserved.
